Your charitable contributions are used to provide for the needs of the patients of Shriners Hospitals for Children® , including the purchase of orthopedic equipment and other required medical supplies. Donations are tax-deductible and can be applied to the Convalescent Relief Account or the Convalescent Endowment Fund.
Convalescent Relief AccountThe Convalescent Relief Account provides annual cash contributions to the Shriners Hospitals for Children®. Contributions to the Convalescent Relief Account are used in the fiscal year in which they are received.
Convalescent Endowment Fund
The Foundation's Convalescent Endowment Fund is an irrevocable Trust Fund supported by donations from Subordinate Temples of the Supreme Temple, Daughters of the Nile; individuals; including Stepping Stones to Happiness certificates and the My Gift Program (bequests, incentive gifts, etc.); Federal, State, County and Municipal Governments, departments and agencies thereof; foundations, and corporations. Each calendar year, the income from the Foundation's Convalescent Endowment Fund and all other income accounts are used to support the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
A contribution to the
Convalescent Endowment Fund, or CEF, whether it is $1.00, $1,000.00, $100,000.00
or more, is a lasting gift. Each
contribution is pooled in the Endowment Fund,
which is a well-balanced investment portfolio. A well-balanced
portfolio not only allows for the principal assets to grow, but also amasses
healthy interest/income throughout the fiscal year.
Both the Convalescent Relief Account and the Convalescent Endowment Fund are important to our philanthropy, and it is up to the individual donor to decide where the contribution(s) should be placed. Donations may be designated to either account or split between our two funds.
Stepping Stones to Happiness
Any individual contributing twenty-five dollars to the Convalescent Endowment
Fund shall receive, upon request, a Stepping Stones to Happiness Certificate.
Supreme Charitable Giving Committee
The Supreme Charitable Giving Committee introduced the Incentive Program in June of 1997. This has proven to be a very worthwhile way to educate, instruct and to enthuse individuals to participate in our philanthropy.
The My Gift Incentive Program
The My Gift Incentive Program is a means for members and friends of Daughters of the Nile contribute a specific monetary gift, while receiving a gift in return. This is a combined awareness and fund-raising program. It provides an incentive to contribute, an awareness of our philanthropy, and each contribution not only helps increase the principal in the CEF, but it also helps accumulate more interest/income for the children. The My Gift Incentive Program has served the Convalescent Endowment Fund well, inasmuch as the CEF is the engine that drives our philanthropic efforts. Seasons of Children Ornament SeriesThis series of ornaments is unique in that each one is designed to reflect the Egyptian heritage of Daughters of the Nile. In June each year, a new ornament is introduced at Supreme Session, and the previous year's ornament is retired at the end of each June. The current year's ornament is available for a lower contribution than those that have been retired. This is a wonderful gift and creates a lovely collection.
