  • Be sure to bring your western gear for A Taste of Texas for the KIDS! event on Saturday night.  The evening will be filled with fun and laughter, as well as many opportunities to help the children.  Hospital administrators and patients from the hospitals will be available to share with you their experiences and dreams.
  • Stop by the My Gift Incentive Program booth in the Shop 'Til You Drop Marketplace.  New items will be available and there will also be some special deals!  Not attending Supreme Session?  Send your Wish List with another member of your Temple who will be attending.  Items will also be available online in our Shopping Cart immediately following Supreme Session.
  • Don't forget the Silent Auction for Convalescent Endowment Fund.  Lots of goody-packed baskets will be available for bids, including some Buy It Now opportunities.
  • You won't want to miss the unveiling of the fabulous Motor Coach which will begin its Love For the Children Tour immediately following Supreme Session.  You can support the tour by making a donation to the Convalescent Endowment Fund through our online shopping cart, in person at Supreme Session or at any of the tour stops.
  • There will be opportunities to attend breakout sessions on Wednesday afternoon.  The Foundation's Trust and Fiduciary Specialist will be presenting a seminar on Estate Planning, followed by an update on the activities of the Foundation and Shriners Hospitals for Children.

It is an exciting time to be a member of Daughters of the Nile.  As we celebrate our 100th Anniversary, we are reminded of our great philanthropic work – Helping Children.  We look forward to seeing you in Grapevine, Texas.  Be sure to leave room in your suitcase for all the items you will want to purchase to help in the Foundation's mission of Working Together For The Children!

A Special Event for the Daughters of the Nile Foundation Convalescent Endowment Fund –

Circle R Ranch

Make plans now to attend a very special event on Saturday, June 15, 2013, being held in conjunction with the Daughters of the Nile Supreme Session in Grapevine Texas.  This will be a real 'Texas experience' at the Circle ® Ranch, complete with a full Texas Bar-B-Que meal, music and line dancing, and special guests from Shriners Hospitals for Children®.  This event is open to all adults and children and is sure to be a wonderful event.  All proceeds go to the Convalescent Endowment Fund for the benefit of Shriners Hospitals for Children®.  Download a flyer with more information.

3rd Gold Plaque Presentation

It was a glorious day!

Philanthropic Wall

The Daughters of the Nile Foundation placed a third Gold Plaque on the philanthropic wall of Shriners Hospitals for Children®-Philadelphia, representing over $3 million given to support the care of children at this facility. The Foundation gratefully acknowledges an annual gift of $15,000 from the Louis Fredrick Meyer Trust which is designated for the hospital in Philadelphia. This gift, along with donations from the friends of the Foundation, made reaching the $3 million goal possible.  On hand to share in the festivities were members of the Board of Directors, Supreme Queen Suzie Schumacher and several Supreme Temple Officers, Imperial Marshal Wayne Lachut, members of the Board of Governors, members and officers of Allah Temple No. 28, friends, patients and their family members.  The staff of the hospital provided informative tours and warm hospitality.  It was the patients, however, who made the day so special.

                     

This celebration demonstrates the commitment of the Daughters of the Nile Foundation to helping the special children treated at Shriners Hospitals for Children®.  The work done at this hospital, as well as in all Shriners Hospitals for Children®, is truly amazing. While each is unique, all of the hospitals in this system provide cutting edge care in a loving environment for children, regardless of their ability to pay.  The children of today and tomorrow appreciate your gifts to the Foundation, which has given over $50 million to Shriners Hospitals for Children®.

“My Gift Program”….New and Exciting Items!

 

Your “My Gift Program” Committee introduced four new and exciting incentive gift items at Supreme Session held in Portland, Oregon.  The “My Gift Program” strives to offer elegant, unique and affordable items to the members and friends of the Daughters of the Nile.  Your Temple will receive credit for your personal tax deductible donation which benefits the Convalescent Endowment Fund and ultimately our special children at Shriners Hospitals for Children®. 

 

The newest addition to the “For the Children” pin collection is the “TRAIN” pin.  The 2012 pin is the seventh in the series and once again depicts children having fun.   The design will bring back happy childhood memories of your first train ride or the excitement of attending a neighborhood carnival.  The pin is done in a gold and silver finish.  It’s the perfect accessory to wear with your existing jewelry.

 

The “Season of Children” collectible ornament chosen by Past Supreme Queen Laura Richardson is entitled “CLEOPATRA”.  This beautiful pewter ornament is the fourteenth in the series and tells the awe inspiring story of Cleopatra, the last Queen of Egypt.  The spirit of Cleopatra serves to instill the need to nurture, protect and serve.  Enjoy this ornament and think of the many lives the Daughters of the Nile supports, year after year.

 

In celebration of the Daughters of the Nile “100th Anniversary,” two commemorative items have been created for your enjoyment.

 

A magnificent limited edition “100th Anniversary” oval crystal etched with the Daughters of the Nile name, emblem and the anniversary years 1913 – 2013 has been created for this momentous event.  Also, included with the lovely crystal is a velvet lined presentation box.  The “100th Anniversary Crystal” is a keepsake you will definitely want to have, as a remembrance, to mark our “100th Anniversary.”

 

The second commemorative item, and the most popular item at Supreme Session 2012, is the “100th Anniversary Pendant.”  The pendant was designed specifically for the Daughters of the Nile and is both versatile and beautiful.  The pendant is tastefully set in silver and offers the option of wearing it with either side exposed.  The front side is classic black onyx enhanced with an etched Daughters of Nile rose emblem and the years 1913 – 2013.  The reverse side is of elegant mother of pearl and can be worn with most of your own existing chains or omegas.  This lovely pendant is presented in an embossed velveteen jewelry bag.  Due to the tremendous demand for this special item, additional pendants are currently being manufactured and will be available on the website in late summer.  Also, look for the pendants at our “My Gift Program” displays at Florida Days, Northeast Days and Texas Days.
